Not many places in the british isles can lay claim to the term “wilderness”. The highlands of scotland are surely an exception – its landscapes are varied and vast, with the uk’s tallest peaks and deepest lochs; something exhibited on this stunning tea towel. Interestingly the highlands were once a thriving population centre too, home to over 300,000 people during the 18th and 19th centuries. Since then, and with the steady move into large urban areas, its population has fallen, making it one of the most sparsely populated places in europe. Monsters of the loch aside, there aren’t many creatures which symbolise this great wilderness better than the highland cow. Its distinctive shaggy russet coat and long horns show a beast built to survive the bracing temperatures and howling winds.

We recommend that before you use your tea towel for the first time you wash it at least once to soften up the material and make it more absorbent for drying dishes.
